MilSpouse Friday Fill-In

1. Since most of the country has had nasty weather, what has your weather been like this week?

Here in Korea... we have LOTS of snow on the ground, but this is the first week it hasn't been in the single digits.  The past two days have been gloomy but not as cold!

2. What is/are your best money saving tip(s)?

Transfer money to your savings before you are tempted to spend.  Also try to use your own creativity and make it yourself :)

3. What was your favorite vehicle you’ve ever owned??

I do love the car I drive now (well actually I don't really drive now that we live in Korea) but my all-time favorite was my 94' Camry that I drove in high school.  Sadly it died when I got in a 7 car pile up after school my Junior year.

4. What is a question you’d like to see asked in a future fill-in? (Your question & blog just may appear one week!)

What's the most romantic gift you have GIVEN?

5. Fill in the blank: You might be a MilSpouse if….

You move to a foregin country to have your family together only to find out 2 weeks after you get there your husband has to leave for the field for over a month.  Learning new traditions, the language, the location, the do's and don'ts by yourself in order to inform him when he gets back. :)

Make A Wish

"Olivia's Wish" Quilt

We are always looking for ways to help spread a little love in the world. If you know me (Mallory), I will try to move mountains any chance I get.
I met this new friend, Olivia. Her story would not only amaze and inspire you.... but would break your heart in so many ways. Not because you feel bad for her... but the way she shines with God's love even with all the mountains that have been put into her life to climb. She has been battling 4 different types of cancer since she was 15. She is recently going through Chemo while her fiance' is deployed. She will fight.... and she will win.

She approached me with this idea to raise money for Sealed Strength. Without even second guessing it... we both RAN with the project.
We will be selling 6x6 squares of fabric for $6... You will then tell me a wish you have that you would like to be added on to the piece of fabric. We will then begin sewing them all together to make a quilt. It was believed that the quilt contained all of the luck, energy and good wishes from all of the people who contributed a piece of fabric. Legand has it once the wishes were sewn into the quilt... the wishes came true.
Once a month SS will be selecting one wish... to help come true. (We will have to be creative since most will be very hard to make happen. You would be surprised what believing and having a little faith can do though.)

We will also be donating $2 from EVERY square to Stand Up To Cancer in Olivia's honor! She is amazing.... and she deserves to know SS is in the fight with her!

The quilt will be auctioned off a few months after it is finished to raise even more money for SS and SU2C.

Any questions please contact me at mallory@sealedstrength.org. If you would like to purchase a square.... please email me at the same email address.

Feel free to pass this as far as you can!
